This Jubilee Year is dedicated to celebrate the 2,025th Anniversary of the Incarnation of Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. The theme, the motto for this Jubilee Year proposed by Pope Francis is “Pilgrims of Hope”. Pope Francis invites us to “fan the flame of hope that has been given us, and help everyone to gain new strength and certainty”.

This Jubilee Year of 2025 will offer the faithful opportunities to participate in various jubilee events at the Vatican and in their own dioceses. For pilgrims in Miami who cannot travel to Rome, Archbishop Wenski has designated the Cathedral of Miami and other popular Catholic places in the Archdiocese as special places of prayer for Jubilee Year pilgrims, offering opportunities for reconciliation, indulgences and other events intended to strengthen and revive the faith.

Our Lady of Guadalupe Church has been blessed by being selected as one the 6 churches/shrines as special places of prayer for Jubilee Year Pilgrims.

The basic conditions to gain an indulgence are

• be purified through the sacrament of penance
• be refreshed by the reception of the Holy Communion
• and pray for the pope.

Groups of faithful who wish to organize pilgrimages to one or more of the designated churches or shrines should coordinate with the designated site so that the pilgrims can be properly welcomed and have access to the Sacraments, especially confession.

Este Año Jubilar está dedicado a la Celebración del Aniversario 2,025 de la Encarnación de Nuestro Señor y Salvador, Jesucristo. El tema, el lema para este Año Jubilar propuesto por el Papa Francisco es “Peregrinos de la esperanza”. El Papa Francisco nos invita a “avivar la llama de la esperanza que se nos ha dado y ayudar a todos a adquirir nuevas fuerzas y certezas”.

Este Año Jubilar de 2025 ofrecerá a los fieles oportunidades de participar en diversos eventos jubilares en el Vaticano y en sus propias diócesis. Para los peregrinos en Miami que no pueden viajar a Roma, el Arzobispo Wenski ha designado la Catedral de Miami y otros lugares católicos populares en la Arquidiócesis como lugares especiales de oración para los peregrinos del Año Jubilar, ofreciendo oportunidades para la reconciliación, indulgencias y otros eventos destinados a fortalecer y revivir la fe.

La Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe ha sido bendecida al ser seleccionada como una de las 6 iglesias/santuarios como lugares especiales de oración para los peregrinos del Año Jubilar.

Las condiciones básicas para obtener una indulgencia son

• ser purificados mediante el sacramento de la penitencia
• refrescarse con la recepción de la Sagrada Comunión
• y orar por el Papa.

Los grupos de fieles que deseen organizar peregrinaciones a una o más de las iglesias o santuarios designados deben coordinarse con el lugar designado para que los peregrinos puedan ser recibidos adecuadamente y tener acceso a los sacramentos, especialmente la confesión.

Tradition dictates that each Jubilee is proclaimed through the publication of a Papal (or Pontifical) ‘Bull of Indiction’. By ‘Bull’ is meant an official document, generally written in Latin, bearing the seal of the Pope, the shape of which gives its name to the document itself.

In the past the seal was usually made of lead and bore, on the front, the image of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul, founders of the Church of Rome, and, on the back, the name of the current Pontiff. Later an ink stamp replaced the metal seal, which, however, continued to be used for more important documents.

Each Bull is identified by its initial words. For example, Saint John Paul II proclaimed the Great Jubilee of the Year 2000 with the Bull Incarnationis Mysterium (The Mystery of the Incarnation), while Pope Francis proclaimed the Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy (2015-2016) with the Bull Misericordiae vultus (The face of mercy).

The Bull announcing the Jubilee, which indicates the dates of the beginning and end of the Holy Year, is usually issued the previous year, coinciding with the Solemnity of the Ascension. For the 2025 Jubilee, publication is expected on May 9, 2024.

La tradición dicta que cada Jubileo se proclame a través de la publicación de una Bula Papal (o Bula Pontificia) de convocatoria. Por “Bula” se entiende un documento oficial, generalmente escrito en latín, con el sello del Papa, cuya forma da nombre al documento. Al principio el sello solía ser de plomo y llevaba en el anverso la imagen de los Santos Apóstoles Pedro y Pablo, Fundadores de la Iglesia de Roma, y en el reverso el nombre del Pontífice.

Más tarde, un sello de tinta sustituyó el sello metálico, pero éste se siguió utilizando para los documentos de mayor importancia.

Cada Bula se identifica por sus palabras iniciales. Por ejemplo, San Juan Pablo II convocó el Gran Jubileo del año 2000 con la Bula Incarnationis mysterium (“El Misterio de la Encarnación”), mientras que el Papa Francisco convocó el Jubileo Extraordinario de la Misericordia (2015‑2016) con la Bula Misericordiae vultus (“El rostro de la misericordia”)

La Bula de convocatoria del Jubileo, en la que se indican las fechas de inicio y fin del Año Santo, suele publicarse el año anterior, coincidiendo con la Solemnidad de la Ascensión. Para el Jubileo del 2025, está previsto que se publique el 9 de mayo de 2024.
