Fr. Christopher Onyenobi from the Ibadan Archdiocese of Nigeria will visit Our Lady of Guadalupe.
The Ibadan Archdiocese is a poor Archdiocese surrounded by a Muslim majority. Recent persecution by Boko Haram - a sect more aggressive than ISIS - has left thousands homeless and overflowing into the refugee camps.
This situation has compounded the struggle to make an impact on the population, which our Muslim counterparts are taking over, through the assistance of the Arab/Muslim countries. We will have a second collection to support the work Father Onyenobi is doing for his people.

Paul s back! After last week s violent abuse, opponents organized a lynch mob that beat Paul nearly to death. But call Paul the energizing evangelist, transforming deadly cruelty into life-giving zeal. Paul s past courage should inspire our commitment; Revelation s future new heaven, new earth should inspire our optimism. But Revelation s present assurance, Behold, God s dwelling is with the human race, should challenge us to become missionaries of mercy.
Because Pope Francis declared that the Church's credibility is completely dependent on our showing unconditional mercy. Mercy, said Francis, makes the Church, the world, and everyone young again, reawakened to life s noblest virtues. Fittingly, in today's Gospel Jesus reinforces that theme: This is how all will know you are my disciples, if you have love for one another. Christ and the outpouring of his Spirit. The Jewish appreciation for Pentecost gave rise to the Jubilee year, the fiftieth year, when debts were released and prisoners set free. Today, the character of our Easter Sundays is conveyed by joyful Alleluias and the rite of sprinkling at Mass. Long ago, people expressed this joy by suspending all rules of fasting and by never kneeling at liturgy.
These customs all point to our conviction that time is holy. There is an elegant balance to the Christian year: forty days of Lenten fast and discipline give way to fifty days of unrestrained rejoicing. That's why it is still Easter!
