Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ:
Each year, the Archbishop’s Charities and Development Drive (ABCD), our annual appeal, provides us with an opportunity to come together as one community of faith to serve the educational, physical and spiritual needs of our Catholic community here in South Florida. Guided by the Holy Spirit, we come together to advance our mission to love and serve, as Jesus did, through acts of charity and compassion to help those in need.
Our Faith is alive in our parishes and schools, in our apostolic movements and ministries, and in our various programs of outreach to the poor, the immigrant, the elderly, the homeless and the disabled. It is alive in our people, people of all backgrounds and ages, and throughout every corner of our Archdiocese—from Key West to Parkland. For all of us, making a gift to the ABCD is a way to give expression to the faith contained in our hearts; and for many, it is also an opportunity to give back, in thanksgiving, for the many blessings we have received from God.
ABCD reminds us that the work of the Church is shared by all. By supporting the works of our Archdiocese and the mission of the Church here in South Florida, you will answer God’s call to love and to serve those in need: those who are without shelter or food, those who are sick or dying, women in crisis, immigrants, children and young adults. Your gift is also an investment in the future by supporting the training of our future priests and deacons. In a word, your gift transforms lives, displays compassion and serves as a living testimony of your faith.
Jesus calls us to be instruments of hope and, through the ABCD, to Give Light, Give Love and Give Life. I ask you to open your hearts in support of the ABCD and the hundreds of thousands of people it helps by making a gift now. Each gift makes a dierence and changes lives.
Thank you for uniting with me to be One in Faith, One in Hope and One in Charity. May God continue to bless you and those you hold dear.
With sincere gratitude and hope,
Most Reverend Thomas G. Wenski
Archbishop of Miami
